Access Control is a means of control that you use to restrict people, vehicles, stock or any sort of movement into certain areas in a building or an organization by means of blocking them with barriers and granting them access by using different ways of identification.
Access control is an important addition to your security system because it is a valuable technique that is used to control who and when people can enter your facilities. Without access control, you risk having your premises and staff exposed to theft, data loss or breach of security.
Understanding the importance of access control has never been more of a necessity to ensure that your staff, products and services are protected 24/7.
A few benefits of access control include:
- Peace of mind knowing that your staff and building are safe at all times.
- Being able to identify everyone who enters your premises and what time they come and go
- It can be a deterrent for external forces trying to enter your building with malicious intent. Much like alarms and security cameras, access control may discourage burglars or vandalizers from entering your buildings
- You can easily change or block user permissions, making it easy to adjust access when a staff member leaves or changes roles
Types of Access Control
What We Offer
Time And Attendance
Time and Attendance enable an employer to have full control of an employee’s time spent working. Giving them the control to manage labour costs and reduce overpayments by eliminating manual errors.
Identifying or authenticating a person by set points of identification with biological traits which cannot be duplicated or lost, eliminating theft and fraud. This technology is suitable for entrances of office parks and high-security areas by either using a finger for fingerprint readers or by presenting your face for facial recognition units. The Biometric Technology can either be used for Time Recording or as Access Control.
Different types of biometric access control are as follows:
• Fingerprint
• Facial
• Palm
• Iris
The most commonly used is a fingerprint reader. This is where a finger is placed on a glass sensor and the unique fingerprint is securely decoded to create a corresponding number which would then be your access credential.
License Plate Recognition
A car’s number plate can be used as an access control credential. This allows you to pre-program the car’s number plate into an access control system. Using high-resolution cameras, the system is able to capture the car registration as the car drives up to a boom/gate and grant instantaneous access should that vehicle have the correct credentials
Boom Gates & Vehicle Barriers (Bollards)
A Boom gate acts as a barrier for access of vehicles to a controlled area. Once access is granted to the vehicle the boom gate will open and the vehicle will pass through. The boom is a long pole that pivots from a horizontal position to a vertical position once open and closes once the vehicle passes its Infrared beam or the coil. Vehicle barriers can also be raising bollards which will rise out of the ground and lower into the ground with operation.
Metal Detectors
This is an electronic device that detects metal objects. This device can either be a handheld unit that a person will swipe over an object or a person’s body to detect concealed metal or firearms. It can also be a unit that is free standing in an arched shaped walkway where a person passes through it and the device will then detect concealed metal or firearms. This device is typically used at Banks or mines where assets need to be protected.
